Preseason weeks 1-2


Kenny Pickett (QB): Pittsburgh Steelers

Game 1 Stats: 13/15 95 yards 2 TDs, 3 rush 16 yards

Game 2 Stats: 6/7 76 yards 1 TD

Kenny Pickett has been electric in the preseason so far, living up to the expectations that made him the first QB off the board in the 2022 NFL Draft. 

Poised to take over the QB1 spot for the Steelers, Kenny could play himself into being a Day 1 Starter for the Steelers if he continues to dominate the preseason.

Malik Willis (QB): Tennessee Titans

Game 1 Stats: 6/11 107 yards, 5 carries 37 yards 1 TD

Game 2 Stats: 7/17 80 yards 1 TD, 5 carries 42 yards

Being touted as the “Definition of Dynamic” Malik Willis faces the toughest QB Battle of the newly drafted QBs. 

While he may start the season as the backup to Ryan Tannehill, possibly even the entire first season, Malik Willis is the quarterback of the future for the Titans. 

His Talent and unique skills should afford him opportunity to see the field in his first season. 

The Titans will look to establish a connection between Malik and first round WR Treylon Burks.

Desmond Ridder (QB): Atlanta Falcons

Game 1 Stats: 10/22 103 yards 2 TDs, 6 rushes 59 yards

Game 2 Stats: 10/13 143 yards

Showing out in his first two preseason games, Desmond Ridder has shown the league why he was one of the top QB prospects in the draft. Currently competing with Marcus Mariota for the starting role, Desmond Ridder looks poised to take the top spot sooner or later if he isn’t the Day 1 starter.

Sam Howell (QB): Washington Commanders

Game 1 Stats: 9/16 145 yards, 3 carries 19 yards 2 TDs

Game 2 Stats: 10/18 122 yards 1 INT, 2 carries 13 yards

Sam Howell was drafted by the Commanders to be a QB in waiting, with the starting spot opening up next season, but his play in the preseason may expedite things a little. He will start the season as a back up to Carson Wentz, but his arm talent and playmaking ability has been on display during the preseason, showing the commanders that if need should arise, he is ready to step into the starting role.

Breece Hall (RB): New York Jets

Game 1 Stats: 5 rushes 15 yards

Game 2 Stats: 4 rushes 1 yard

Breece Hall is expected to be the top running back from the 2022 draft class, he has secured the starting role for Jets. With the third best overall odds to win ROTY, Breece has the potential to be a top RB this season, his preseason workload indicated that the jets have much more work lined up for him in the regular season.

Kenneth Walker III (RB): Seattle Seahawks

Game 1 Stats: 5 Carries 19 Yards, 1 Reception 11 yards

Game 2 Stats: DNP

Kenneth walker is coming off a stellar college campaign and went straight to the run happy Seattle Seahawks. 

While Kenneth is dealing with a injury in the preseason, he is slated to be a major contributor for the seahawks offense. 

With the departure of Russell Wilson in the offseason, the seahawks are going to look to be one of the most ground dominate offenses in the league.

James Cook (RB): Buffalo Bills

Game 1 Stats: 3 rushes 5 yards 1 rec 5 yards

Game 2 Stats: 4 rushes 38 yards, 1 rec 12 yards

Taken In the second round, James Cook went to the explosive Buffalo Bills Offense, he joined a crowded running back room with Devin Singletary and Zach Moss, but figures to form a three headed monster in the bills backfield. 

Cook offers options on both running and passing downs, so he may have a chance to take a larger role in the offense as the season goes on.

Dameon Pierce (RB): Houston Texans

Game 1 Stats: 5 rushes 49 yards

Game 2 Stats: DNP

Dameon Pierce was a 4th round pick by the Houston Texans, a dual threat back from Florida, Pierce was expected to come in and be a change of pace back for the Texans. 

Pierce however had different plans and has shown the Texans everything they need to see to give him a bigger role in the offense. 

Pierce could very well be the Lead back for the Texans week 1, competing with a recovering Marlon Mack for the starting role, but regardless, Pierce is set to be a major part of the Texans offense in 2022.

Zamir White (RB):  Las Vegas Raiders

Game 1 Stats: 5 carries 13 yards, 2 receptions 4 yards.

Game 2 Stats: 5 carries 8 Yards 1 TD, 1 reception 4 yards

Zamir White was a 4th round pick for the Raiders, he was the leading rusher for the national champion Georgia Bulldogs in 2021. 

Zamir entered into a slightly crowded backfield with Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake firmly established as the starter and backup, however with Kenyan Drake no longer on the Team, Zamir has a chance to firmly grab onto a much more significant role in the offense. 

Serving as the primary backup and change of pace RB for the Raiders, Zamir will have plenty of opportunity to grow with this being Josh Jacobs last season on his current contract.

Brian Robinson Jr (RB): Washington Commanders

Game 1 Stats: 6 carries 26 yards 1 TD, 15 yards

Game 2 Stats: 8 Carries 31 yards

Brian Robinson was drafted in the 3rd round by the Washington Commanders. He was expected to serve as a backup to Antonio Gibson for his rookie season, but he has shown a much bigger motor then expected and is now in competition  

 

Tyrion Davis-Price (RB): San Francisco 49ers

Game 1 stats: 10 carries 36 yards

Game 2 stats: 10 carries 41 yards, 1 reception 6 yards

Taken in the 3rd round by the 49ers, Tyrion Davis-Price entered into a full RB room, he however has out run the competition, showing strong legs and a  downhill running style that the 49ers love. 

The big back will likely see most of his time backing up Eli Mitchell, but could utilize his size into a Goal line Role or third down back for the 49ers.

Garrett Wilson (WR):  New York Jets

Game 1 Stats: DNP

Game 2 Stats: 3 rec 15 yards

Taken 10th overall by the Jets in the 2022 Draft, Wilson is among the top wide receiver prospects in the draft. He joins Elijah Moore and Corey Davis as the top options for second year signal caller Zach Wilson. 

Garrett Wilson has a tremendous skill set and will look to challenge Elijah Moore for the WR1 role.

Drake London (WR): Atlanta Falcons

Game 1 Stats: 1 rec 24 yards

Game 2 Stats: DNP

The first WR taken in the NFL Draft, Drake London is expected to lead a barren WR room in Atlanta with the departure of Julio Jones and the suspension of Calvin Ridley. 

Drake did suffer a slight set back with a preseason injury that will keep him out of the second and third games, but London has the size, speed and hands to be a real factor for the Falcons and the potential opportunity to get hime a rookie of the year.

Chris Olave (WR): New Orleans Saints

Game 1 Stats: 1 rec 4 yards

Game 2 Stats: 2 rec 28 yards 1 TD

Taken 11th overall, Chris Olave was selected by the New Orleans Saints. 

One of the top young WR in the draft class, Chris Olave joins Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry and Tre’quan Smith in New Orleans. 

With burning speed and fantastic hands, Olave figures to slot into the starting group of WR’s his rookie season.

Jahan Dotson (WR): Washington Commanders

Game 1 Stats: DNP

Game 2 Stats: 2 receptions 23 yards

Jahan Dotson was the 16th pick in the NFL Draft, taken by the Washington Commanders. 

An electric WR from Penn State, Dotson comes to the Commanders when they are in need of additional WR help to go along with Terry McLaurin. 

Dotson looks to be coming in as a every down WR for the Commanders and if given the opportunity has a real chance to put up big numbers for Washington in his rookie season.

Treylon Burks (WR): Tennessee Titans

Game 1 stats:

Game 2 Stats: 1 Rec 4 yards

Treylon Burks was drafted 18th overall by the Tennessee Titans. 

A monster WR from Arkansas, Treylon looks to replace A.J. Brown on the titans roster. 

Known for his huge hands and playmaking ability Treylon has a Opportunity to really become a focal point of the offense for the titans. 

His preseason has had some rough spots, with Treylon developing asthma early in camp, however, he has acclimated quickly to the new hurdle and is set to be a full go for week 1.

Jameson Williams (WR): Detroit Lions

Jameson Williams was the 12th pick overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. 

Jameson will start the season on the injury list dealing with rehabbing a Torn ACL he got back in the national title game against Georgia.

Joining Amon-Ra St. Brown and DJ Chark, Jameson Williams figures to be a large part of the lions offense in the future. 

Williams figures to make his debut midseason for the lions, adding in additional speed and playmaking to the lions WR room.

George Pickens (WR): Pittsburgh Steelers

Game 1 Stats 3 receptions 43 yards 1 TD

Game 2 Stats: 2 receptions 6 yards

A Giant WR from Georgia, George Pickens was taken by the Steelers in the 2nd round. 

Pickens has been the Hype leader in the offseason, showing off all the skills he developed at Georgia. 

He has done well enough to earn himself a spot in the starting rotation and gotten himself into the ROTY race already. 

Expectations are high for this rookie WR, but so is his talent level.

Skyy Moore (WR): Kansas City Chiefs

Game 1 Stats: 3 receptions 23 yards

Game 2 Stats:

Drafted in the second round by the Chiefs, Skyy Moore come into a Chiefs offense looking for a new offensive threat. 

With the departure of Tyreek Hill from the chiefs in the past offseason, Skyy Moore has an opportunity to grab a significant role in the offense. 

The team looking to utilize the speedy WR has already shown interest in having him return kicks and play out of the backfield with the RBs. 

If he can develop a connection with Mahomes, Moore could be a dark horse for ROTY.

 

Christian Watson (WR): Green Bay Packers

Christian Watson was the 2nd pick of the second round in the 2022 NFL Draft. 

Watson is one of the highest offensive skill players drafted by the Green Bay Packers during Aaron Rodgers tenure.

 Watson offers the packers a hulking frame, 6’4, and blazing speed, 4.31 40 yard dash. 

Coming out of North Dakota State, he is a little raw still, but has the intangibles to become a huge offensive threat. 

With the departure of Davonte Adams, the packers will be looking to both their rookie WRs to try and fill the void.

 

Romeo Doubs (WR) Green Bay Packers

Game 1 Stats: 3 receptions 45 yards 1 TD

Game 2 Stats: 3 receptions 24 yards 1 TD

Picked up by the Packers In the fourth round, Romeo was brought in to sure up the WR room.

Romeo proceeded to have a tremendous camp, scoring in both his preseason games and earning the respect and eye of packers top signal caller Aaron Rodgers. 

Romeo has had a great camp and will be looking to secure a starting role in this offense as he moves forward into the season.

Wan'Dale Robinson (WR): New York Giants

Taken in the second round by the New York Giants, Wan’dale Robinson has already earn a starting role in the offense. 

Expected to take on the slot receiver role, Wan’dale has the playmaking skills and route running to exceed expectations in the slot.

Tyquan Thornton (WR): New England Patriots

Game 1 Stats: 2 receptions 9 yards 1 TD

Game 2 Stats: 1 reception 13 yards

Tyquan Thornton was taken in the second round by the Patriots. 

Needing WR help, the Patriots selected Thornton after running a unofficial 4.21 40 yard dash, which would have been a combine record. 

The speedy Baylor WR was set to start for the patriots out of the gate, however Thornton suffered a collarbone injury in his second preseason game, and will have to delay his NFL Debut until about week 8 of the NFL season.

Alec Pierce (WR): Indianapolis Colts

Game 1 Stats: 2 receptions 27 yards

Game 2 Stats: 1 Rec 9 Yards

Alec Pierce was a 2nd round pick by the Colts. 

A standout WR at Cincinnati, Pierce looks to come into a colts WR room needing additional help to go along with Michael Pittman JR. 

a route running specialist, Pierce has shown in camp that he is ready for the next level and will be utilized fully in the offense his rookie season.

Velus Jones Jr (WR): Chicago Bears

Game 1 Stats: DNP

Game 2 Stats: 1 reception 4 yards

The bears selected Velus Jones Jr in the 3rd round, needing WR help after the departure of Allen Robinson. Velus Jones impressed at the combine with his Speed, running a 4.31 40-yard dash, the Tennessee WR was a perfect fit for the Bears. Velus should see plenty of action on the field as a WR but will for sure use his speed as a punt and kickoff returner for the Bears this upcoming season.

Jalen Tolbert (WR):  Dallas Cowboys

Game 1 Stats: 2 Receptions 10 yards

Game 2 Stats: 2 receptions 25 yards

Needing WR help, the Cowboys selected Jalen Tolbert in the 3rd round. 

Coming in to be a replacement for Amari Cooper, Jalen Tolbert’s Speed, hands, and playmaking ability made him a must have for the Cowboys. 

He has had a solid camp and is expected to take a starting role in the offense the upcoming season, especially while fellow WR Michael Gallup is recovering from injury.

Trey McBride (TE) Arizona Cardinals

Game 1 Stats: DNP

Game 2 Stats: 0/0 2 targets

Seen as the Top TE in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals picked Trey McBride in the second round. 

Coming in the rookie will be behind all-pro TE Zach Ertz, and will have the opportunity tot learn from him for his rookie season, going forward McBride is the TE of the future for the cardinals.

Aidan Hutchinson (DE): Detroit Lions

Game 1 Stats: 2 solo tackles 1 Tackle for loss

Game 2 Stats: DNP

Aidan Hutchinson is a monster, at 6’6 260lbs, running a 4.74 40-yard dash. He was taken second overall by the hometown Detroit Lions. 

And immediate playmaker and starter, Aidan figures to be a top candidate of Defensive Rookie of the Year. 

Expect a lot of buzz as Aidan is currently the star of HBO’s Hard Knocks tv show.

Travon Walker (OLB): Jacksonville Jaguars

Game 1 Stats: 1 solo tackle, 1 Sack

Game 2 Stats: 2 tackles, 1 solo tackle, 1 Tackle for loss.

Another monster on the defensive side of the ball, Trevon walker was selected 1st overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. 

Measuring in at 6”5 and 272 LBS, Walker is the second back to back 1st overall pick for the Jaguars, following Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 Draft. 

A instant impact player, Walker will look to push Hutchinson for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Sauce Gardner (CB) New York Jets

Taken 4th overall by the Jets, Sauce Gardner was one of the top-rated CBs in the 2022 Draft. 6’2, 190 lbs, Sauce has the frame and speed of a elite NFL CB. 

Taken in a position of need since the departure of Jamal Adams, Sauce is already turning heads and should be seen as a day 1 starter for the Jets.

Kyle Hamilton (S): Baltimore Ravens

Taken by the Ravens at pick 14, Kyle Hamilton was widely regarded as one of the best prospects in the 2022 draft. 

Going to a already electric defense, Hamilton figures to slot into the starting rotation next to Chuck Clark. 

Hamilton will have a chance to show what he can do, playing along side a multitude of all pro players on defense.

David Bell (WR): Cleveland Browns

Game 1 Stats: DNP (on PUP list)

Game 2 Stats: 3 rec. for 46 yards

Bell started the preseason on the PUP list after suffering a stress fracture in his foot in July. 

After getting healthy, he emerged in week 2 of the preseason against the Eagles and didn’t miss a beat. 

Bell caught 3 of 4 targets for 46 yards (with a long of 22) and finished as the Browns leading receiver. 

Bell will look to keep up the momentum in week 3 and continue to push for starter reps in what is a wide open WR room in Cleveland behind Amari Cooper

Danny Gray (WR): San Francisco 49ers

Game 1 Stats: 2 rec. for 99 yards, TD

Game 2 Stats: 2 rec. for 23 yards, 2 PT conversion

Early and often throughout the preseason Danny Gray has looked like he could emerge as the top deep threat for the 49ers this season. 

The WR3 spot is wide open behind starters Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, and Gray has made weekly plays to put him in the driver’s seat for that role. 

He torched Green Bay in the first preseason game for a 76-yard TD grab and secured a 2 PT conversion in the following game against the Vikings.

Erik Ezukanma (WR): Miami Dolphins

Game 1 Stats: 2 rec. for 18 yards

Game 2 Stats: 6 rec. for 114 yards

The former Texas Tech standout had a slow start to the preseason but caught fire in week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders. 

Ezukanma bullied the Raiders secondary all game long, to the tune of 6 catches for 114 yards, highlighted by an acrobatic 34-yard catch over two defenders down the right sideline. Like Danny Gray in San Francisco, Miami has their top two WR spots secured, but behind them it is a wide-open competition for the third spot, with Ezukanma pushing to fill that role.

Pierre Strong Jr. (RB): New England Patriots

Game 1 Stats: 6 rushes for 25 yards, 1 rec. for 0 yards

Game 2 Stats: 7 rushes for 23 yards

After a slow start to camp due to injury, Pierre Strong Jr. was able to get healthy ahead of the Patriots first two preseason games. 

While New England has a crowded backfield, Strong could end up making a push to secure the third running back spot, with long-time Patriot James White recently announcing his retirement. 

Strong has a skill set similar to departed James White and could look to fill that role for the team in the upcoming season.

Hassan Haskins (RB): Tennessee Titans

Game 1 Stats: 6 rushes for 19 yards, 3 rec. for 29 yards

Game 2 Stats: 12 rushes for 39 yards, 2 rec. for 8 yards

Hassan Haskins has put together a strong preseason for the Titans, making a case for himself to be the first back in the rotation behind Derrick Henry for early-down duties. 

While not known for his receiving skills coming out of Michigan, Haskins has been a pleasant surprise in that department over the course of the preseason with 5 receptions for 37 yards. With a solid finish in the remaining preseason games, Haskins has a good chance to enter the year as the top backup behind starter Derrick Henry.

Bailey Zappe (QB): New England Patriots

Game 1 Stats: 19/32 for 205 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 rush for 2 yards

Game 2 Stats: 16/25 for 173 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 3 rushes for 11 yards

Zappe came out dealing in his preseason debut, throwing for over 200 yards and a TD against the Giants. 

Zappe has all the tools necessary to continue to compete with current backup Brian Hoyer for the role. 

Zappe likely won’t play much this season with Mac Jones leading the way, be he could very easily take over backup duties from Brian Hoyer as early as next year, if not sooner. 

His last performances of the preseason will be monitored closely in hopes for a strong finish.

Calvin Austin III (WR): Pittsburgh Steelers

Game 1 Stats: DNP, Injured

Game 2 Stats: DNP, Injured

While Calvin Austin III has yet to play in a game yet this preseason, recent news around his injury sounds positive. 

Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Austin is “feeling great” and is just “waiting for Coach Tomlin’s word” to return to practice. 

Once healthy, Austin should crack the top 4 wide receivers on Pittsburgh’s depth chart with ease

Isaiah Spiller (RB): Los Angeles Chargers

Game 1 Stats: 10 rushes for 34 yards, 1 rec. for 10 yards

Game 2 Stats: 3 rushes for 3 yards (injured in game)

Spiller hit the ground running for the Chargers in week 1 of the preseason, racking up 44 yards from scrimmage. 

He looked decisive and smooth, side-stepping his way around Rams defenders throughout his first few offensive series. 

His momentum was stalled in week 2, however, thanks to an ankle injury suffered against the Cowboys. 

The do-it-all back out of Texas A&M is considered day-to-day, but still projects to be in the early RB rotation for the Chargers once healthy.
