2022 Rookie Report

Week 4

Kenny Pickett (QB): Pittsburgh Steeler

Game 4 Stats: 10/13 120 yards 3 INTs, 6 rushes 16 yards 2 TDs

In a much-awaited debut, the first rookie QB taken in the draft Kenny Pickett got his chance to show the Pittsburgh fans what he was all about.

Coming in for Mitch Trubisky after halftime, Pickett started out a little shaky, throwing an interception on his first pass, however, he quickly recovered and led the Steelers on a drive ending in Pickett’s first Rushing TD and the Steelers first lead of the game.

The Steelers have announced that Kenny will be the starter going forward, so look for him to continue to grow into the role and develop more chemistry with the first team offense.

Pickett did set a NFL record, becoming the first rookie QB to rush for 2 TDs in his first game.

Bailey Zappe (QB): New England Patriots

Game 4 Stats: 10/15 99 yards 1 TD

Next man up is a common phrase in football, and Bailey Zappe was the next man up!

After starter mac jones went down, the patriots turned to veteran Brian Hoyer to lead their team.

Hoyer however ended up leaving the game early with a injury in the first quarter.

It then fell to rookie QB Bailey Zappe to lead the team against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Zappe impressed in his debut, leading the Patriots to a overtime appearance. Fans took notice of the young gunslinger and

Breece Hall (RB): New York Jets

Game 4 Stats:  17 carries 66 yards 1 TD, 2 rec 12 yards

Continuing to be a force for the Jets, Breece Hall seems to be receiving more and more shares of the offense, getting 17 carries to Michael carters 9.

Breece is the best back the jets have, so he will continue to receive more and more targets as he develops into the Bellcow RB he is meant to be.

A threat in both the passing game and ground game, Hall could make a push for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Chris Olave (WR): New Orleans Saints

Game 4 Stats: 4 rec 67 Yards 1 TD

Chris Olave continues to shine for the Saints, pulling in 4 receptions for 67 yards and a TD Sunday.

Olave currently ranks 9th in the NFL in total receiving yards, an impressive feat for the rookie, especially considering the starting QB Jameis Winston was hurt week 3 and missed week 4,  but Olave showed that regardless of QB he will still be out there making plays.

Olave currently is a leader for Offensive Rookie of the Year, and if he continues his current pace, should make it very hard for anyone else to catch up.

Dameon Pierce (RB): Houston Texans

Game 4 Stats: 14 carries 131 yards 1 TD, 6 rec 8 yards

Dameon Pierce is a monster, currently in the top 10 for Carries, rushing Yards, and TDs and 12th for YAC, Dameon has wasted no time leaving his mark on the NFL.

Having taken the starting role, Pierce hasn’t looked back, and the Texans continue to feed the young RB.

Showcasing his explosive nature, Pierce had a 75 Yard TD run in the second quarter. Pierce, along with Olave, London, Hall and now Pickett are the clear leaders for ROTY and should continue to excite fan bases this season.

Game 4 Stats: 6 rec 102 yards

Playing with his QB of the future Kenny Pickett, George Pickens showed an immediate connection, grabbing 6 receptions for 102 yards.

The development of chemistry between those two will be a crucial part of the Steelers offense going forward, as they both represent the future of the Steelers offense, along with Najee Harris.

Pickens has the playmaking ability and speed to be a real threat in the NFL so look for him and Pickett to continue to develop their connection.

Romeo Doubs (WR): Green Bay Packers

Game 4 Stats: 5 Rec 47 yards 1 TD

Aaron Rodgers new favorite target, Romeo Doubs, has quickly earned the Future HOFers trust, catching his second TD in as many weeks.

The Packers Offense looks to still be developing as they have a whole new cast of players this season, but Romeo quickly developing a connection with Rodgers is a key development. Look for Romeo to continue to deliver in the coming weeks as the Packers offense continues to develop.

Tyler Allgeier (RB): Atlanta Falcons

Game 4 Stats: 10 carries 84 yards, 1 rec 20 yards

A new name on the rookie report, Tyler Allgeier got a opportunity Sunday for the Falcons as Cordarrelle Patterson suffered a injury that landed him on the IR for the next couple weeks.

Allgeier didn’t waste his opportunity though, rushing for 84 yards on 10 carries and pulling in a reception for 20 yards.

Allgeier figures to be the lead back next week with Patterson set to miss time, giving him more time to show that he is the RB of the future for the Falcons.
